Amber Rais had a fantastic sprint for 3rd place in the second stage of the Mt Hood Cycling Classic yesterday.

In today’s race, Alisha Lion took 3rd place honors sprinting at the end of a difficult 11 mile climb. Her finish effectively moved her into 3rd overall.

Tomorrow the battle for the GC is underway with a 10 mile individual time trial and a late night downtown criterium. The Webcor-Platinum ladies are up for the challenge!

It was another full day of events in beautiful Hood River. I started the morning with Chad and Barry Wicks on a radio talk show. We answered questions about the race and talked a little bit about why we love coming to such an epic stage race every year.

After the show Chad dropped me off in town a the bike shop and I walked around and looked at some cool art shops in Hood River.

Amber came and picked me up and we went for coffee then got a local paper to see if there was anything about the race in it. We picked up our packets at the Full Sail Brewing Company, then headed to the house for some relaxation time.

I went out for an hour spin, then put my TT bike together (it just arrived in the mail today! right on time!) and made sure that it was working properly. Before I knew it I was pinning my numbers and packing up to leave for the TT.

My start wasn’t until 6:53, so I had plenty of time to warm up and get myself sorted out before my race. Cat and Amber started about 20 minutes before I did. We started at The Fruit Company this year because they are a new sponsor to the race. It was cool! They had free Fuji apples (my favorite) and some really good pears too for the racers. Yummmy! I grabbed a couple and stashed them in my bag for after the race.

Amber had an awesome ride! She was 7th and our best rider for Webcor-Platinum. Way to go Amber!!! I was 10th, and Cat was 26th. We have a 56 mile stage tomorrow morning at 10:10am in the Dalles. I need to head on to bed, but I know tomorrow will hold some more surprises and fun-filled racing… and just good ol’ plain fun too!
